Rainbow Gems and subsequently True Weapons are luxuries. Technically no true weapon is a must for any units. This guide is merely to explain which True Weapon benefits a unit enough to warrant spending 30 RGs. The following are listed according to the Alchemist Trade. If you require help prioritising which TW to purchase, ask in #reroll-and-team-advice with a screenshot of your unit box and Advisors will tell you what to aim for.
Full detail reviews are further down the list.
These make a notable improvement for their respective units. It’s ultimately your choice on who you’d like this improvement for.
“Flambardo” (Sanstone) | “Adamas Gear” (Thetis) | “Dos Muertes” (Ashe) | “IZANAGI” (SakuraMira [Best ArtGen Phys equip]) | “Formalhaut” (Berwick) | “Centurion” (Feena)
These are useful for their respective units, but the units themselves/effects of the TW are too niche/outclassed etc to justify purchase.
“Exgate”
Despite being absolutely necessary for Leone, her limited use means that her TW is not worth the purchase.
“Asterisk”
Despite being amazing for Rosetta, it’s not worth the purchase if you already have Goku Uniform (KLK Collab) or Millim clothes (TenSura Collab). Otherwise, it’s worth considering.
“Exceed Zechs”
Even though it helps DarkZeorg stay at 100% Paralysis and Freeze resistance paired with his skill, it is ultimately just a luxury. Even then, the event farmable just about does it job of being a versatile 5 star Magic equipment, further kicking it down to an [Honourable Mention] should the player already have the farmable version.
“Griffin”
Though it gives Norn 100 arts at quest start and a 20% damage boost and an impressive 60% paralysis resDown, it is ultimately not worth 30 rainbow gems.
“ZANKETSU”
While useful for Vox and Sword Berwick, it’s not that big of an upgrade in the long run compared to even Anestra, and “IZANAGI” would be better overall for Vox anyway. If you have it/want to get it, Sword Berwick would benefit more.
“Saint Blaze”:
Only invest if your mono water is strong as Nies is not a general use unit. Even then, this is an extreme case to argue for in the current Global Meta. Even then Nies isn’t really a good choice compared to other Mono Water units unless for fire bosses.
“Siegfried”
While Freed appreciates the provided passives, he has since been far outclassed, thus his True Weapon isn’t worth it.
“Nemesis Crow“:
While Regulus requires his True Weapon to function at his best, Regulus has been outclassed in his role of DPS/Nuker, and thus his True weapon, while necessary, is not worth the 30 RGs.
“Gradion” | “Froid Rosier” | “Arth Lumina”:
Whilst the starters require their True Weapons to function at their best, they are no longer a justifiable purchase despite the 15 RG price tag.
“Raaz”:
While a great defence equipment for its effects, it has a farmable alternative.
These don’t make much difference for their respective units, but are great for other reasons. Should not be spent on unless you’re a massive whale.
“Proscris” (Versatile magic equip) | “Viperra” (Useful for Riviera/Earth nuking) | “Alchemia” (Good magic equip) | “Efkeria” (Versatile physical equip) | “Stratega” (Useful for nuking)
Everything else is not worth the price tag.
Detailed Write-ups for ALL True Weapons
1-4/10 = Trash, never buy it.
5-7/10 = If whale, consider it.
8-10/10 = Worth a F2P’s rainbow gems.
Note that the Author (Crimson) has little time, so if there isn’t a write-up for a weapon you have your eyes on, then rely on what’s above/advice from advisors.
For Respective Unit: If you plan to use DFen for nuking, Stratega will improve his damage output by a considerable amount, and a nuking team will appreciate the 30% DMG Res down. If you’re not nuking you’re better off using ArtGen equipment such as Exceed Zechs.
For General Use: Stratega is good for a nuking team, acting as a substitute to Rishley’s Summer Bikini with its 30% DMG Res down. However, if you do not have a good nuking setup (missing equipment/units) then there are better options for your Rainbow Gems.
